Cees Kramer of OAMKB about Combidesk

Cees Kramer (57) is an independent business consultant affiliated to franchise organisation oamkb, which handles administration for thousands of companies in the Netherlands. And the goal? To fully automate their clients' administration, giving them a real-time picture of their financial situation. Thanks to the app, they can see how they're doing in five minutes. "I want entrepreneurs to be able to head into the weekend feeling confident and good," he says.
Cees, himself an entrepreneur for many years, joined oamkb in 2017. He has been helping young entrepreneurs with business management ever since: "In my years as an entrepreneur, I by no means did everything right. I can put this experience to good use by offering advice to young entrepreneurs. I can also do this as a sort of ad hoc financial consultant, where I only drop by when things are going wrong. Rather, I enter into a long-term partnership and provide content."
Not just your average accountant
Cees now guides growth companies as a business consultant. "I am a commercial kind of guy, and often hit it off with creative and technical people. We complement each other well, I think. As well as doing administration and business management, I also bring commercial vigour. What I find most enjoyable is advising smart, ambitious entrepreneurs who have built a very good product. Together, we can realise all the growth potential."
With the help of software, Cees gives entrepreneurs insight into their figures. "Transparent accounting also enables them to make better and more informed decisions. Accounting software allows you to do this. Yuki accounting software, for example, has all kinds of alerts. As a result, employees' billable hours don't get lost, invoices don't stay open too long, and you immediately see if a product isn't selling well, for example."
Accounting and tools
"You still have people in offices retyping receipts from folders into Excel sheets, or ancient bookkeeping systems, with clients receiving the previous year's annual report the following autumn! I don't understand why there are entrepreneurs who settle for this. Not only because, for most of the year, you have no idea how you're doing financially, but also because accounting packages are getting cheaper and better."
Cees is quite clear in his claim that the accounting of the future will be done by computer: "It's better, faster and more efficient." And what about people? "They will add value in terms of business management." In Cees' opinion, computers are ideal for recording figures and business records, with people being there to make sense of it all.
No more duplicate or unaccounted invoices
However, transparent accounting - despite the necessary tools - doesn't always go without a hitch. Take Cees' client Blauwe Monsters, an online marketing agency based in Hoofddorp, for example. They work with Moneybird accounting software, while Cees works with Yuki.
"The accounting didn't transfer in an orderly manner from one system to the other," Cees explains. "The invoicing there is done by several employees, and, on more than one occasion, invoices transferred from Moneybird to Yuki weren't immediately recognised. In addition, any reminders showed up as new invoices in Yuki. All in all, this resulted in a lot of unnecessary work for the back office.
The solution: they use Moneybird for invoicing, and I use Yuki for bookkeeping
The solution to this was an integration between Moneybird and Yuki. "This way, at Blue Monsters, they can continue working with user-friendly Moneybird accounting software for invoicing, and I can work with Yuki, which is accounting software for business consultants and accountants."
“They're happy, I'm happy, and the balance sheet is always in proper order.” Cees Kramer, business advisor at oamkb
The result of the integration
Cees says he loves these tools: "I have automated my back-office flow, i.e. everything that comes to me from my clients, as much as possible. Otherwise, I would be constantly entering receipts. In addition, I simply find consulting more fun now."
Any invoices and receipts that come into Yuki are automatically read, recognised and processed. If the system doesn't recognise an invoice or receipt, Cees gets a notification, and has to manually process the invoice or receipt just once. And the system remembers this. The next time an invoice or voucher comes in from this party, things will go automatically. It also reduces the workload for clients like Blauwe Monsters.
Cees: "They're happy, I'm happy, and the balance sheet is always in proper order. These types of integrations between accounting packages are the ideal solution for everyone concerned."
